Movie/TV-set intimacy co-ordinators play key role bringing sizzling scenes to the screen

Love scenes are not that lovely for actors.

It’s the job of the intimacy co-ordinator to make those manufactured moments less nerve-wracking — and to ensure the safety of the performers.

“We help choreograph scenes of simulated intimacy, high emotional content and are there for mental health first-aid as well,” said Karyn Mott, an actor and part of the Vancouver-based intimacy co-ordinator group Principal Intimacy Professionals (PIP) whose members have worked on Vancouver productions such as Batwoman, Upload, Big Sky, Firefly Lane and The Bold Type.
